The next chapter of the Sensory Trail is just around the corner.
This project began with a proposal to design a simple walking trail near Lake Wallace and the former Belchertown State School.
It has evolved to represent complex ideas and community needs through a design entirely unique to Belchertown.
Every aspect of the trail is the outcome of a conversation, exploration, or acknowledgment of the uniqueness of this place.
Over a period of five years, those ideas turned into design features—tailored to community members of all abilities and interests.
It took time to collect reflections, build partnerships, generate a design, and raise the money to build it.
We accomplished everything we set out to do, which is why we’re expanding on the original effort.
Follow and Join the effort.
The ultimate goal is to create a project that the community can take ownership of—and to discover what doing so makes possible in this unique place.
So take a look at the project concept, designs, and all the little details that make this trail one-of-a-kind.
